Summer Night Concert featuring Mark Mandeville & Raianne Richards
Friday, August 27, 7 p.m.
Outdoors weather permitting

Known primarily for their collaboration in the conceptually based folk trio “The Accident That Led Me To The Word,” Mark Mandeville and Raianne Richards now set forth to promote their new respective solo releases out on Nobody’s Favorite Records. As performers, Mandeville and Richards choose to cooperatively present their material as a duo - in the tradition of folk and country music, they share close vocal harmonies and strictly acoustic accompaniment (6-string guitar, ukulele, banjo, tin whistle, harmonica).

To celebrate the release of No Big Plans and Simple In This Place, Mandeville and Richards embarked on a seventeen day walking tour across their home state of Massachusetts; Richards learned the ukulele specifically for this tour as its weight was preferable over that of a full size guitar.

Shortly after Walking Tour 2010, Becket-Boston, the duo showcased their music at this year’s North By Northeast Music Festival in Toronto Canada. While their concert schedule is gradually increasing around New England, Mandeville and Richards will depart this September for a three month US tour. Don't miss Mark & Raianne in their own hometown!

About the Artist:

My first experience with a camera came in 1953 when I was stationed in Korea with the United States Air Force. I purchased a 35 mm Zeiss Contessa at the PX and began taking color slides. It was my way of bringing home experiences from another culture.

For twenty years, I used a Canon AE-1.  In 2000 I started relying on a Canon EOS Rebel to document my travels and create photographic art.

I have taken photographs around Worcester and New England as well as in England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Italy, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, Russia, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Iceland and Turkey.

Something catches my eye, which is my first lens. I “take” the picture as I see it, want to remember it and share it.  I often try find an unusual view of a subject to “make” it more interesting. Sometimes, even in my representational work, there is an aspect of abstraction.

Patterns and angles, as well colors, contrasting shapes, and textures fascinate me. I find I am attracted to doors, windows, alleys, arches, rooftops and passageways.

I prefer to shoot in color because I feel it reveals the special reality of a subject.
